A bespoke hardware solution developed for a luxury yacht, where craftsmanship, personalization, and performance were equally important.
Artisans Hardware was commissioned to design and manufacture custom monogram-engraved door handles that seamlessly complemented the vessel’s existing hardware aesthetic. The project required careful consideration of marine-grade performance standards, ensuring durability within a demanding coastal environment while maintaining an elevated level of design sophistication.
The result was a fully custom hardware package that balanced personalized luxury, marine compliance, and exceptional attention to detail.
Challenge
Unlike regular doors, marine doors and cabinetry must be self-closing with an extra latching mechanism. The selection of the hardware finish should account for the presence of unique marine environmental conditions which could possibly be detrimental to the hardware.
Solution
Created custom door handles in a non-ferrous material, adhering to design specifications and marine code within the project’s time constraints.

Process
- Visited the yacht to inspect the existing doors, hardware conditions, and interior detailing.
- Conducted a detailed study of the required openings and identified the functional and aesthetic requirements for each location.
- Drafted custom hardware concepts incorporating the client's monogram and the proportions required for the yacht's doors.
- Submitted prototypes for review, testing, and approval before moving into full production.
- Completed final production and delivery of the approved hardware for approximately 50–60 openings.
- Conducted a door-by-door on-site inspection to confirm proper installation, alignment, and operation.
