A complex restoration project focused on preserving the character of a historic property while upgrading its hardware systems to meet modern building standards.

With occupancy rapidly approaching, more than 100 historically designed doors required a hardware solution capable of satisfying contemporary hurricane code requirements without compromising the property's architectural integrity. The challenge demanded a careful balance between heritage preservation, functionality, and regulatory compliance.

Working within an accelerated timeline, Artisan Hardware delivered a tailored solution that maintained the original design intent while providing the durability, performance, and reliability required for modern hospitality environments.

01 Challenge

Over 100 sets of historical doors need to be able to sustain hurricane-level winds. With 4 weeks until occupancy, the general contractor realized that the existing door handles would not meet the design, code, or functionality requirements.

02 Solution

The Artisan Hardware team flew to Miami to meet with the contractors and owner’s representatives team to review the doors and inconsistencies among them.
